SANDBACH PARK March, 2010 - Concept Designs Sandbach Partnership and Ryder Landscape Consultants Ltd have produced the first draft of the Concept Design for Sandbach Park. The designs are based on the views expressed by park users and local residents through the consultation exercises undertaken before Christmas. The designs include some exciting proposals relating to childrens play, youth facilities, adult recreation, environmental improvements, and visitor and event infrastructure. The draft designs are to be exhibited on Saturday 13 March at Sandbach Town Hall from 10am to 2pm. Consultants Stuart Ryder and Alice Cooper will be available to explain the reasoning behind their designs and to discuss any points raised by members of the public. There will also be an opportunity for people to become “Friends of the Park” and to become involved in the implementation of projects and future care of the park. The designs will also be displayed at Sandbach Library from Monday 15 March to Saturday 20 March with comment sheets available to collect people’s views. Feedback received from these consultations will be taken into account before the final version of the concept design is approved.
SANDBACH TOWN PLAN Help shape the future of Sandbach Sandbach Town Council, working closely with Sandbach Partnership, has launched a project to develop a comprehensive Town Plan for the future development of the town toward 2020. The project will seek to build upon an existing town vision, which was developed by the Town Council in 2007 and identified a number of quality standards and regeneration projects to take the town forwards, after wide consultation across the local community. Further consultation will now be undertaken with individual members of the public, local businesses and the wealth of clubs societies and organisations based in the town, to update the original vision and generate new ideas. Cllr Keith Haines, who is championing the project, commented, “ The existing Town Vision has given direction to a number of projects, some of which have been completed and others which are ongoing. We now want to expand the vision statements into a more comprehensive and far-reaching development plan, which is based on the considered views of all stakeholders within the town. Questionnaire surveys are being sent to local businesses, clubs, societies and other organisations. Members of the public can submit views by completing a questionnaire, available from Sandbach Library or by clicking this link. Completed questionnaires should be returned by Friday 5 March. Dot Flint, Chairman of Sandbach Partnership commented “Sandbach Partnership is proud of its record in bringing inward investment and regeneration schemes into Sandbach over the last few years. We are keen to continue this good work and see the development of a Town Plan as a key building block in determining future schemes which will meet the expectations of the local community” The project is to be overseen by a Steering Group comprising volunteers representing all sectors of the community supported by local Town Councillors. Anyone who has a genuine interest in Sandbach has the opportunity to become involved in the project by joining the steering group or one of the focus groups. The plan will be developed throughout 2010 and early 2011 in readiness for implementation from 2011 -2020The outline timetable for the development phase of the plan is as follows: February Raise awareness and invite input from local organisations and individuals - March Hold focus group meetings The focus group meetings to consider potential developments will be held in March as follows: - Monday 15 March, 6pm, Leisure & Events Anybody interested in attending one of the focus groups or joining the Steering Group should contact Project Coordinator Bob Hardiker, bob.hardiker@sece.co.uk tel 01270 752124, or complete the questionnaire survey available from Sandbach Library or by clicking here.
SANDBACH PARK
The first stage of the public consultation process undertaken to inform proposals for the enhancement of Sandbach Park has now been completed. The level of response from all sectors of the community was excellent. Neighbouring residents, bowling clubs, event organisers, parents and children have all voiced their opinions on their priorities for enhancing the park and the resulting comments make interesting reading. Analysis of the comments received to date has been completed and early indications are that as expected, improvements to the public toilets are clearly a priority for all park users. Improved play facilities for all age groups are also a popular suggestion but there are also some less obvious but creative suggestions which would make an interesting contribution to the park environment. Once all comments have been analysed and evaluated they will form the basis of the masterplan being developed by Ryder Landscape Consultants Ltd. The draft concept plan will then be put on public display seeking comments and asking for public support for the proposals before the plan is formally approved as the basis for enhancement of the park over future years. Details of where the display can be viewed will be publicised in the near future.
