Councillor Alan Smith

 Councillor Alan Smith

My wife and I have lived in Sandbach for 17 years and my 3 sons have all been bought up here and went to school at Offley Primary school and Sandbach boys school.     I work at Holmes Chapel in a Quality Assurance role for a major multinational company.

I sought election to Sandbach Town Council  as I want to be able to help protect and encourage the aspects of Sandbach that make it a great place to live.  I see my main role as a councillor as representing the views of the people of Sandbach.

I want to be able to contribute towards ensuring that development in the town is suitable and proportionate with an emphasis  on affordable housing  and that any additional housing is balanced by additional amenities and that the emphasis is moved away from speculative development.

I believe local councils to be the backbone of democracy and see them as a great way of empowering people to be involved in taking decisions in their local area and a means of feeding back the views of the people of Sandbach to other councils and bodies that take decisions that have an impact on Sandbach.
