Councillor Kathryn Flavell

 Councillor Kathryn Flavell

Originally from London, I moved to Cheshire in 1984 and have lived here ever since. I attended Keele University where I obtained a BA in Music and English, and then MMU, where I did my teacher training. I currently work full time as Head of Performing Arts at a secondary school in Chesterton, Newcastle-Under-Lyme. I teach mainly Music and some Dance and English. I am single with 2 grown up children.

Wanting to meet new people, and to give something back to the community I live in, I became interested in local politics a couple of years ago and I was elected onto STC for Elworth Ward in January 2018.  It has given me a renewed sense of purpose and challenge in my life and has already proved extremely interesting and worthwhile. I aim to represent the views, and tackle the issues, of the people of Elworth with integrity and tenacity.

My particular interests are improving quality of life for the elderly and those living alone; health and social care; youth and cross-generational activities; the environment.
