SANDBACH TOWN COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE

Christmas Market

Sandbach town centre was alive with Christmas cheer on Friday evening as the festive season opened in the town with a lively market with over 80 stalls offering a wide range of quality food and goods. The market covered the Small Common car park and the area stretching from the Town Hall to the Sandbach crosses.

The seasonal cheer was increased by the brilliant musical performances near the Crosses and on the Commons car park. Council members and staff reckoned this was the possibly the most successful Christmas market ever held in the town, helped by the cold, clear weather, bright moonlight and the friendly atmosphere that marked the occasion.

A number of Sandbach Town Councillors and staff were on duty to smooth the way through a full evening of activities and busy trading that started in mid-afternoon and went on into the evening. The whole town centre was beautifully lit up for the occasion with the Town Hall shining out the message of good cheer.

The Mayor – Councillor Kathryn Flavell – and the staff and members of Sandbach Town Council worked hard to help deliver a successful Christmas Market, some of whom are shown here.

Undoubtedly the talented performers of Sandbach made a major contribution and the Town Council is most grateful to them all.

Sandbach town centre was bright and busy for the Christmas Market

Councillor and Mayor Kath Flavell said, “The people and traders of Sandbach turned out in force to create a wonderful start to the festive season in our town. I am grateful for the efforts of Town Council staff, colleague Members and the excellent musical performers who did so much to create a brilliant atmosphere. Of course, it is important to remember that at this difficult time, Christmas is a challenge for many people, but this market provided an affordable source of good cheer for all.”

Chief Officer Ceri Lloyd said, “The Christmas Market, like our other events such as the Party in the Park, shows that community spirit is alive and well in Sandbach. It is the job of the Town Council to harness and support the powerful sense of local identity here and work with partners to enhance the physical, social and economic fabric of the town.”
